Tooth Extractions

Everyone wants to keep their teeth for life, but on occasion, circumstances can occur that result in needing a tooth extraction for the best outcome of your dental health. Many times a tooth extraction can be a simple procedure, on more rare occasions a more complicated surgical tooth extraction may be required. At My Dental Clinic in Calgary, we are proud to offer both simple and surgical tooth extractions depending on your specific situation.

There are many reasons a tooth may need to be removed, these include but may not be limited to:

  • Oral Trauma
  • Periodontal Disease
  • Tooth Crowding
  • Extensive Decay
  • Loose Teeth
  • Infected Teeth

At My Dental Clinic, we try to avoid extractions, but sometimes they may be the best treatment to ensure your overall oral health is at its best.

Simple Tooth Extraction

A simple extraction may be performed on a tooth that can be seen in the mouth. We will use a dental instrument called an elevator to loosen the affected tooth. Once the tooth has been loosened, we use forceps to remove the tooth from your mouth.

Surgical Tooth Extraction

For teeth that are severely damaged, broken off at the gum line or teeth that have not erupted a surgical tooth extraction may be necessary. The dentist will make an incision into your gums to surgically remove the tooth. Often you will receive stitches to help aid in the healing process.

If your tooth is severely damaged by decay or has broken, contact our Calgary dental clinic and schedule an appointment. If it is an emergency, we will try to accommodate you as soon as possible.
